St. Olaf College, located in Northfield, Minnesota, invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology. These faculty recruitment 2025 roles will begin in August 2026.

The department is especially interested in candidates with expertise in:

An active research program involving human participants is required. Teaching responsibilities will include core psychology courses and advanced courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.

Organization Profile

The Department of Psychology at St. Olaf College is a dynamic academic community of nine faculty members, dedicated to undergraduate teaching and research. As one of the college’s largest majors, Psychology graduates 80–90 students each year. The department is housed in Regents Hall of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, a modern facility supporting cutting-edge academic and research activities. Faculty maintain interdisciplinary connections with other programs such as Neuroscience, Family Studies, Race and Ethnic Studies, and more.

Assistant Professor in Psychology at St. Olaf College

Position Description:

The teaching load is five courses annually. The successful candidate will:

  • Teach core content and advanced psychology courses
  • Develop curriculum based on area of expertise
  • Engage undergraduates in research
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching, mentorship, and scholarship
  • Support the college’s mission of inclusive liberal arts education
  • Contribute to a diverse learning community through research, teaching, and service

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology (or a closely related field) by August 2026
  • Active research program involving human participants

Preferred:

  • Experience with child/adolescent or community-focused psychology
  • Strong record or potential in teaching and mentoring undergraduates

Salary:

$74,190 – $79,000 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
