The Department of Philosophy at St. Olaf College, located in Northfield, Minnesota, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Feminist Philosophy, beginning August 2026. Candidates with a specialization in feminist philosophy and the philosophy of race are particularly encouraged to apply. Position Description:
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching five undergraduate courses per year across all levels
- Contributing to programs such as Gender and Sexuality Studies, Race and Ethnic Studies, and first-year seminars
- Advising students and serving on departmental and college-wide committees
- Engaging in scholarly research and publishing in the field
- Contributing to community and campus diversity efforts
Salary Range:
$74,190 – $79,000 (commensurate with experience)
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ph.D. in Philosophy (or related field) by August 2026
- Scholarly expertise in feminist philosophy
- Ability to teach courses in the philosophy of race
Preferred:
- Competence in additional fields (e.g., metaphysics, philosophy of language, technology, or African philosophy)
- Strong teaching and research record
- Ph.D. holders in adjacent disciplines (e.g., gender studies) with philosophical training may also be considered
