Position Overview: Math Specialist – Lower School
As a Math Specialist, you will:
- Collaboratively plan and teach mathematics to lower school students.
- Develop interactive, thought-provoking lessons that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Build a classroom culture that values independence, collaboration, and respect.
- Partner with homeroom teachers to align instructional goals and support diverse learners.
- Participate in curriculum development, team planning, and department initiatives.

- Pay Range: $72,433 – $161,007 (based on experience)
- Union: American Federation of Teachers, Local 2063

Key Responsibilities
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom community.
- Design and co-teach a developmentally appropriate mathematics curriculum.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers and support staff to differentiate instruction.
- Participate in grade-level, department, and school-wide meetings.
- Serve as a valuable resource during events like Back to School Night and ParentConnect.
- Uphold a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- A degree or certification in mathematics is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of elementary classroom experience required.
- Proven experience with co-teaching, curriculum writing, and working across diverse communities.
