Position Overview: Math Specialist – Lower School

As a Math Specialist, you will:

  • Collaboratively plan and teach mathematics to lower school students.
  • Develop interactive, thought-provoking lessons that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Build a classroom culture that values independence, collaboration, and respect.
  • Partner with homeroom teachers to align instructional goals and support diverse learners.
  • Participate in curriculum development, team planning, and department initiatives.

  • Pay Range: $72,433 – $161,007 (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom community.
  • Design and co-teach a developmentally appropriate mathematics curriculum.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families.
  • Collaborate with homeroom teachers and support staff to differentiate instruction.
  • Participate in grade-level, department, and school-wide meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A degree or certification in mathematics is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of elementary classroom experience required.
  • Proven experience with co-teaching, curriculum writing, and working across diverse communities.
