Procedure for Appointment of Principal

1. Advertisement and Application Process

• The appointment process begins with an all-India advertisement, approved by the University.
• Applications will be screened by a Scrutiny Committee consisting of:
  1. Chairman, Governing Body (Chairperson)
  2. Two Members of the Governing Body, one of whom is a University Representative
  3. An Academician representing SC/ST/OBC/Minority/Women/Persons with Disability, if applicable
• A minimum of three members must be present to form a quorum.
• Eligible candidates will be awarded points based on criteria set by the University.

2. Selection Process

• The Governing Body will forward a panel of names to a Selection Committee, which will consist of:
  1. Chairman, Governing Body (Chairperson)
  2. Two Governing Body Members, one of whom is an expert in academic administration
  3. Two nominees of the Vice-Chancellor, who are higher education experts
  4. Three Higher Education Experts, including a Principal, a Professor, and an Educationist
  5. Two Subject Experts, nominated by the Governing Body from the list approved by the Academic Council
  6. An Academician representing reserved categories, if applicable
• A minimum of five members, including two experts, must be present to form a quorum.
• The selection committee must complete the process on the same day, documenting results along with scoring and recommendations.
• The final list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be forwarded to the University for review.

3. University Review and Final Appointment

• The University Selection Committee will review the forwarded list, consisting of:
  1. Vice-Chancellor
  2. Pro-Vice-Chancellor
  3. A Nominee of the Visitor
  4. Chairman, Governing Body of the College
  5. Two Executive Council Members, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor
  6. An Academician representing SC/ST/OBC/Minority/Women/Persons with Disability categories, if applicable
• Based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee, the University will send a list of approved candidates to the Governing Body for appointment.
• If no suitable candidate is found, the post will be re-advertised.
• The appointment shall be made in accordance with Ordinance XVIII of the University.

4. Tenure and Performance Assessment

• The Principal shall be appointed for a period of five years, extendable for another five years based on performance assessment.
• A Performance Assessment Committee will evaluate re-appointment eligibility, consisting of:
  1. Nominee of the Vice-Chancellor
  2. Nominee of the Chairman, UGC (from accredited institutions)
• Upon completing the tenure, the incumbent may return to their parent organization as a Professor.
