Core Academic Subjects Teacher Positions at Waxahachie Independent School District

Position Description:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering curriculum-aligned instruction in assigned core subject
  • Planning lessons tailored to individual student needs and learning styles
  • Supporting student growth across intellectual, social, and emotional domains
  • Collaborating with colleagues and support staff for instructional planning
  • Using technology to enhance the learning process
  • Serving as a role model and promoting the district’s mission

Qualifications:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements or eligibility under District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
  • CPR and AED certification required for Physical Education teachers

Special Knowledge & Skills:

  • Competency in the assigned subject area
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and classroom management
  • Ability to instruct and engage diverse learners
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • At least one year of student teaching, internship, or related teaching experience

Major Responsibilities:

Instructional Strategies

  • Prepare and deliver well-structured lesson plans
  • Incorporate accommodations for diverse learners and students with IEPs
  • Integrate appropriate learning strategies, tools, and assessments

Student Growth

  • Support students in developing study habits and academic skills
  • Sponsor extracurricular and student engagement activities

Classroom Management

  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Manage student behavior in line with district policies

Communication

  • Establish open communication with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Maintain accurate records and reports

Professional Development

  • Participate in training sessions and faculty meetings
  • Stay current with teaching regulations and best practices

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (under 15 pounds)
  • May work indoors or outdoors
  • Must maintain emotional control under stress
  • Potential irregular or prolonged working hours

Supervisory Duties:

  • Supervise instructional aides or classroom volunteers as assigned
