Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, is inviting applications for a prestigious Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Mechatronics and Robotics Applications. The appointment is expected to be made at the Associate or Full Professor level in one of the following academic units: Electronics, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, or Systems and Computer Engineering, under the Faculty of Engineering and Design. This position will commence on July 1, 2026.

Position Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Lead a world-class research program in Mechatronics and Robotics Applications
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one of the core engineering departments
- Contribute to developing graduate and undergraduate programs in Mechatronics
- Supervise and mentor graduate students and research personnel
- Support interdisciplinary collaborations across the Faculty and industry
Areas of expertise may include (but are not limited to):
- Artificial Intelligence in Mechatronics: Predictive maintenance, safe AI design, intelligent automation
- Cyber-Physical Systems: Digital twins, distributed systems, cyber-security in mechatronics
- Robotic Systems Design: Control systems, multi-agent systems, sensor and actuator design

- Programs: Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Sustainable & Renewable Energy
- Specializations: VLSI, photonics, neuromorphic hardware, IC design, power systems
Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering:

- Expertise: Robotics, mechanical systems, dynamics, and control systems
Department of Systems and Computer Engineering:
- Programs: Biomedical, Communications, Computer Systems, Software Engineering
- Research Areas: Embedded systems, AI, robotic surgery, control and simulation, signal processing
Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant engineering discipline
- Proven track record of scholarly research in Mechatronics and Robotics Applications
- Experience in student supervision and mentoring
- Demonstrated leadership in teaching, service, and academic life
- Ability to secure external research funding and engage in industry collaboration
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research and teaching
- Eligibility and willingness to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario within five years
