Job Description
Jemez Day School, under the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), is currently inviting applications for the position of Teacher (Special Education). This full-time position is open to all U.S. citizens and individuals who owe allegiance to the U.S. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering special education instruction in either an elementary or secondary school setting on or near the reservation.

Key Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher (CY-1710-11), your duties will include:
- Preparing annual instructional outlines and daily lesson plans
- Teaching using adaptive instructional techniques and available resources
- Evaluating student progress through a variety of assessment tools
- Creating a positive classroom environment fostering student growth and self-image
- Managing classroom behavior and discipline independently
- Supervising students to ensure safety and compliance with school guidelines

Conditions of Employment
Applicants must:
- Be able to pass a background investigation
- Hold a valid state teacher certification (emergency/provisional accepted under state rules)
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Be able to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
- State teacher certification relevant to the subject area
- Completion of state-mandated assessments, where applicable
- Indian Preference applicants must submit BIA Form 4432

Education Requirements
- Submit legible transcripts from an accredited institution

- If using foreign education, a credential evaluation must be included
