Faculty Position in Automatic Control at Université Laval

Position Description:

The selected candidate will contribute to the development of sustainable and efficient industrial practices by conducting cutting-edge research and teaching in automatic control. Areas of focus include:

  • Modeling, observation, optimization, and control of complex systems
  • Development of methodologies to enhance system performance
  • Promoting economically viable and environmentally sustainable solutions

Additional responsibilities:

  • Teaching and mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Conducting and publishing university-level research
  • Participating in academic, administrative, and external scholarly activities
  • Supporting the visibility and influence of the faculty and the university

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline (or be close to completion)
  • Demonstrated relevance of academic background to the position
  • Proven research capabilities and potential for independent research
  • Teaching experience or potential at university level (all academic cycles)
  • Commitment to pedagogical innovation and student supervision
  • Ability to communicate and integrate within a French-speaking academic context (or willingness to do so within one year)
  • Must be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or eligible to become one
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills
  • High standards of ethics, responsibility, and academic integrity

Scale of Pay:

Salary will be based on the applicable collective agreement.
