The University of South Carolina Upstate invites applications for a full-time Instructor of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track teaching position based at the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campuses.

Job Title:

Position Description:
The selected candidate will:
- Teach a 32-credit annual load in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture
- Offer both introductory and upper-level ASL courses
- Serve as Coordinator for the ASL Minor
- Lead student recruitment and outreach initiatives
- Organize guest speakers and active-learning experiences
- Develop and manage ASL curriculum for both in-person and online formats
- Participate in departmental service and committees
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s degree or minimum 18 hours of graduate coursework in ASL, Deaf Culture, or Deaf Studies
- At least 1 year of undergraduate teaching experience in related areas
- Successful completion of a background check
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in ASL, Deaf Culture, Deaf Studies, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Familiarity with ACTFL World Readiness Standards
- Demonstrated experience in academic program development
- Minimum of 3 years of college/university teaching
