Assam University, Silchar – Guest Faculty Positions 2024 for Chemistry Department

Assam University, Silchar has announced Guest Faculty recruitment on a temporary basis for teaching positions in colleges. Eligible candidates are invited to appear for a walk-in interview for the post of Guest Faculty in the Department of Chemistry.

Organization Profile

Established in 1994, Assam University is a premier institute located in Dargakona, around 20 km from Silchar. Spread across 600 acres of scenic hillocks, the university offers an ideal academic environment. The main campus is in Silchar, and an additional campus is located in Diphu, Karbi Anglong district, Assam. The university is committed to excellence in research and education.

Department with Vacancies:

  • Chemistry
    • Physical Chemistry

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grading system) in a relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
  • Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR, or similar accredited test like SET.
    Candidates with a Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC regulations (2009 or 2016) are exempt from NET/SET, provided they meet certain conditions.

Ph.D. Exemption Conditions:

  • Ph.D. awarded in regular mode.
  • Thesis evaluated by two external examiners.
  • Open Ph.D. viva conducted.
  • At least two research papers published, with one in a refereed journal.
  • At least two presentations at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences.

Ph.D. holders from foreign universities ranked among the top 500 in global university rankings by QS, THE, or ARWU are also exempt from NET/SET.

Candidate Profile:

  • UG/PG degree in the relevant discipline with excellent academic records.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passion for teaching and guiding students.
  • Good research record.

Job Location:

Silchar, Assam

Pay Scale:

  • Rs.1500/- per lecture with a maximum ceiling of Rs.50,000/- per month.
