The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, is inviting applications for Assistant Professor positions on a short-term contractual basis. These recruitment opportunities are under the newly launched Post-Graduate Diploma in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (PGD-WASH) at the Centre for Water Policy and Governance, School of Habitat Studies (SOHS), starting from the academic year 2024–25.

Employment Details

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Candidates should have any one of the following:

• Master’s degree with 55% marks in: Political Science
• International Relations
• Political Demography & Population Studies
• Law-Governance Management
• Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering (with valid GATE score)

OR

• A Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009/2016), with NET/SET exemption under UGC guidelines.

Additional Requirements for Ph.D. Exemption

• Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
• Thesis evaluated by at least two examiners
• Open viva conducted
• At least two research papers published (one in a refereed journal)
• At least two conference presentations
• Certification of compliance by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs)

Note: NET/SET not required for master’s programs in disciplines not covered by UGC/CSIR.

Foreign Ph.D. Degree

Candidates with Ph.D. degrees from top 500 global institutions (as ranked by QS, THE, or ARWU) are also eligible.
