Job Description
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, is inviting applications for Assistant Professor positions on a short-term contractual basis. These recruitment opportunities are under the newly launched Post-Graduate Diploma in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (PGD-WASH) at the Centre for Water Policy and Governance, School of Habitat Studies (SOHS), starting from the academic year 2024–25.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
Candidates should have any one of the following:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks in:
- Political Science
- International Relations
- Political Demography & Population Studies
- Law-Governance Management
- Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering (with valid GATE score)
OR
- A Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009/2016), with NET/SET exemption under UGC guidelines.
Additional Requirements for Ph.D. Exemption
- Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
- Thesis evaluated by at least two examiners
- Open viva conducted
- At least two research papers published (one in a refereed journal)
- At least two conference presentations
- Certification of compliance by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs)
Note: NET/SET not required for master’s programs in disciplines not covered by UGC/CSIR.
Foreign Ph.D. Degree
Candidates with Ph.D. degrees from top 500 global institutions (as ranked by QS, THE, or ARWU) are also eligible.
