Professors of Practice
Role Expectations:
As a Professor of Practice, the candidate is expected to:
- Engage in teaching and mentoring students in a full-time physical mode.
- Bridge the gap between academic research and industry applications.
- Collaborate with industry for academic partnerships and guide PhD and Master’s students.
- Work on industry-sponsored research projects as a Co-Principal Investigator.
- Develop industry-relevant courses with hands-on components.
- Contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-specific projects.
- Design and teach specialized electives in cutting-edge technology areas.
Appointment & Engagement Details:
- Non-tenured position, initially for 3 years (extendable based on performance).
- Short-term appointments (1-2 years) are available for industry professionals.
- Up to 10% of the total faculty strength can be Professors of Practice.
- Candidates with a PhD may be absorbed as full-time Professors based on research output and teaching experience.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Professionals such as the CEO, CTO, Vice President, Principal Scientists, and Senior Research Scientists with:
- Master’s degree in engineering, science, humanities, or related fields.
- PhD preferred but not mandatory (compensated by strong industry expertise).
- Exceptional candidates with Bachelor’s degrees and significant contributions to entrepreneurship or start-ups may also be considered.
Age Criteria:
- Applicants must be 50 years or above.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation will be based on:
- Nature of appointment (full-time or part-time).
- Industry expertise and market trends.
- Normally at par with full-time Professor scale.
Approval Process:
- Non-tenured appointments will be approved by a Campus Level Review Committee, based on departmental recommendations.
