Established in 1984 by Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan under Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) has grown from Tamil Nadu's first self-financing engineering college, Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). In 1989, the trust founded Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, which was recognized as a Deemed University by the MHRD in 2002. Since 2003, BIST has operated under BIHER's banner, continuing its commitment to academic excellence in various fields.
