Assam University, Diphu Campus: Guest Faculty Vacancy 2024

Organization Profile

Established in 1994, Assam University serves as a prominent educational institution under the Assam (Central) University Act 1989. The main campus is located in Dargakona, approximately 20 km from Silchar, set amid the scenic landscapes of northeast India, spanning 600 acres. Assam University provides an ideal learning and research environment across two campuses, with the secondary campus situated at Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam.

Job Details:

  • Position Title: Guest Faculty in History
  • Department: History

Required Qualifications for Assam University Guest Faculty:

Candidates must fulfill the following educational qualifications to be considered for the teaching position:

  • Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in History or a related field from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
  • National Eligibility Test (NET) clearance conducted by UGC/CSIR, or equivalent tests such as SET.
  • Ph.D. holders meeting University Grants Commission (UGC) criteria may be exempt from NET/SET, provided:
    • Ph.D. awarded in regular mode only.
    • Thesis evaluated by two examiners.
    • Open Ph.D. viva voce completed.
    • Published two research papers, with at least one in a refereed journal.
    • Presented at least two papers in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences/seminars.
  • Ph.D. degrees obtained from universities ranked among the world’s top 500 by QS, THE, or ARWU rankings will also be considered exempt from NET/SET.

Note: Certification of these conditions by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) is mandatory.

Salary and Benefits

  • Pay Scale: ₹1,500 per lecture, up to ₹50,000 per month
