Assam University, Silchar, has announced a faculty recruitment notification for Guest Faculty teaching positions on a temporary basis. Eligible candidates are invited to attend a walk-in interview.

Established in 1994, Assam University is a premier institution under the Assam (Central) University Act, 1989. With a vision to achieve excellence in education and research, the university’s main campus is located at Dargakona, 20 km from Silchar, amidst the scenic beauty of northeastern India. Spread over 600 acres, the university offers an ideal academic environment for students and researchers. Additionally, the university operates a second campus at Diphu, Karbi Anglong district, Assam.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant subject from an Indian university or a recognized foreign university.
• Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC guidelines.

Exemptions from NET/SET:

• Candidates with a Ph.D. degree as per UGC regulations (2009/2016) are exempt from NET/SET requirements.
• Ph.D. holders from top 500 global universities as ranked by QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) are also exempt.

Additional Requirements:

• Ph.D. candidates must meet the following criteria for exemption:
  • Ph.D. awarded in regular mode.
  • Evaluation by at least two external examiners.
  • Open viva voce conducted.
  • At least two research papers published (one in a refereed journal).
  • Minimum of two papers presented in conferences/seminars.

Candidate Profile:

• UG/PG degree in the relevant discipline with excellent academic records.
• Strong communication skills.
• Passionate about teaching and mentoring students.
• Proven research record.

Job Location:

Silchar, Assam

Pay Scale:

• ₹1500 per lecture, with a maximum of ₹50,000 per month.
