- Established in 1958 as Deshbandhu College (Evening) by the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Government of India.
- Fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and maintained by Delhi University since 1972.
- Renamed Ramanujan College in 2010 and became a full-fledged day college in 2012.
- Opened its doors to women students in 1994.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must fulfill one of the following:
A. Master’s Degree & NET Qualification:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
- Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR (NET exemption as per guidelines).
B. Ph.D. from a Top-Ranked Foreign University:
- Ph.D. from a top 500 world-ranked university, as per:
- QS World University Rankings
- Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU – Shanghai Rankings)
Note: Academic scores will be used for shortlisting, and final selection will be based on the interview performance.
