Assam University, Silchar: Guest Faculty Recruitment 2024

Assam University, Silchar, has announced openings for Guest Faculty on a Temporary Basis as part of its faculty recruitment drive for 2024. Eligible candidates for teaching jobs are invited to attend a walk-in interview.

Organization Profile:

Assam University, established in 1994, under the Assam (Central) University Act 1989, is dedicated to becoming an institute of academic excellence. The main campus spread over 600 acres, is located in Dargakona, about 20 km from Silchar, offering a picturesque environment ideal for academic research and teaching. The university also has a campus in Diphu, Assam.

Guest Faculty

Departments with Vacancies:

  • Applied Science and Humanities
  • Operation Research and Industrial Management
  • Engineering Graphics and Design
  • Design Thinking

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a relevant field from an accredited university.
  • Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR, or an equivalent test like SET.
  • Ph.D. holders are exempted from NET/SET if they meet certain criteria, including:
    • Awarded the Ph.D. degree in regular mode.
    • Thesis evaluated by at least two examiners.
    • Published two research papers from their Ph.D. work (with at least one in a refereed journal).
    • Presented at least two papers at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences.

Note: Candidates with Ph.D. degrees from top 500 ranked foreign universities (as per QS, THE, or ARWU) are also eligible.

Candidate Profile:

  • Completed UG/PG in the relevant discipline with excellent academic records.
  • Strong communication and passion for teaching.
  • Proven research record and ability to guide students.

Pay Scale:

₹1,500 per lecture (with a ceiling of ₹50,000 per month).
