Faculty Recruitment notification has been released by the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The university invites applications from eligible candidates for various Faculty positions on a contract basis. Interested candidates can apply through email before the deadline.
About the Institution
Established on 14th November 2008 through an Act of Parliament (Act 22), the Indian Maritime University is a Central University dedicated to developing skilled professionals for the maritime sector. November 14th is celebrated as IMU Day annually.
Job Title:
Teaching Faculty (Contract Basis)
Departments Inviting Applications:
- Faculty – Marine
- Faculty – Electronics Engineering
- Faculty – Mathematics
- Faculty – Nautical Science
- Faculty – General Management (including Retail Management)
- Faculty – Computer Science (Computer Language & E-Commerce)
- Faculty – Transportation and Logistics
Employment Type: Contract (initially for 6 months, extendable based on performance and requirement)
Qualifications and Eligibility
Faculty – Marine
Essential:
- MEO Class – 1 (Motor) Certificate of Competency from DGS
- Minimum six months of sailing experience at Management level under STCW
- VICT / TOTA Course Certificate
Desirable:
- 6 months of teaching/training in Maritime Institutes
- AECS and TSTA Course Certificate
Faculty – Electronics Engineering
Essential:
- UG in EEE/ECE
- PG or Integrated PG in Electronics Engineering or related field
- PLC and Automation Control as a subject in UG/PG
- VICT / TOTA Certificate
Desirable:
- NET/SLET/SET qualified
- AECS and TSTA Course Certificate
- UGC-standard research publications
- 2 years teaching experience in UG/PG
Faculty – Mathematics
Essential:
- 55% marks or equivalent in UG and PG (or Integrated PG)
Desirable:
- NET/SLET/SET qualified
- PhD in relevant field
- UGC-standard publications
- 2 years teaching experience
Faculty – Nautical Science
Essential:
- Master (Foreign Going) CoC recognized by DG Shipping
- Minimum 6 months sailing at Management level under STCW
- VICT / TOTA Course Certificate
Desirable:
- 6 months of teaching/training experience
- TSTA Course Certificate
Faculty – General Management (including Retail Management)
Essential:
- UG: Graduation with minimum 55%
- PG: M.Com/MBA in General Management/Marketing
Desirable:
- NET/SLET/SET qualified
- PhD in relevant field
- UGC-standard publications
Faculty – Computer Science (Computer Language & E-Commerce)
Essential:
- UG: Graduation with at least 55%
- PG: MCA/M.Tech/M.Sc. in CS/IT or equivalent
Desirable:
- NET/SLET/SET qualified
- PhD in relevant discipline
- UGC-standard publications
- 2 years of teaching experience
Faculty – Transportation and Logistics
Essential:
- UG: Graduation with a minimum 55%
- PG: M.Com/MBA in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields
Desirable:
- NET/SLET/SET qualified
- PhD in a relevant field
- UGC-standard publications
