Qualifications Required:

1. Educational Qualifications:
   • A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale where the grading system is followed) in the relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
2. Additional Requirements:
   • The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or any other similar test accredited by the UGC (such as SET).
   • Alternatively, candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, and amendments, are exempted from the NET/SET requirement.
3. Ph.D. Candidates’ Eligibility:
   • Candidates who registered for the Ph.D. program before July 11, 2009, may also apply, provided they fulfill the following conditions:
     • The Ph.D. degree must have been awarded in regular mode.
     • The Ph.D. thesis must have been evaluated by at least two examiners.
     • An open viva voce must have been conducted.
     • The candidate must have published at least two research papers from their Ph.D. work (one in a refereed journal).
     • The candidate must have presented at least two papers based on their Ph.D. work at conferences/seminars sponsored by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agencies.
4. Ph.D. from a Foreign University:
   • If the Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings (as per QS, THE, or ARWU), the candidate is also eligible.
