National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur has announced recruitment for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about teaching positions and advancing research in organic chemistry.

Organization Profile

NIT Jamshedpur, formerly known as the Regional Institute of Technology, was established on August 15, 1960. It was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) founded under India’s Second Five-Year Plan (1956–1961). The institute aims to produce highly skilled technical graduates to provide technological leadership to the region.

Research Position Details

• Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
• Project Title:
  Synthetic strategies for the construction of fused heterocycles, distal C-H functionalization, and asymmetric synthesis of furan and pyran ring fused with desymmetrized cyclopentene-1,3 dione.
• Funding Agency:
  Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria

• Essential Qualifications:
  • M.Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale).
• Desirable Qualifications:
  • Preference for NET/GATE-qualified candidates.
  • Strong knowledge of organic chemistry is highly desirable.

Project Duration

• 2 years or until project completion, whichever is earlier.
• Initial appointment is for one year, extendable based on performance.

Fellowship Details

• Stipend: ₹31,000 per month
• HRA: ₹4,960 (as per norms)
