Position Description:

Course Options:

  • College Algebra (Algebra II): Covers linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, and exponential functions with an emphasis on graphical representation and real-world modeling.
  • Pre-Calculus: Prepares students for calculus or statistics through quantitative reasoning and analysis of various function types, including trigonometric and logarithmic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach 1 or 2 in-person sections at Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School
  • Deliver Bard-provided curriculum while supporting student success
  • Provide consistent, high-quality feedback on assignments
  • Communicate student progress with the Bard Sequence Director and partner school staff
  • Hold regular office hours and contribute to a rigorous, inclusive academic environment

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Mathematics or related field
  • Commitment to equity and educational access for historically marginalized groups
  • Willingness to work closely with program leadership and school partners

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching at both high school and college levels
  • Cultural competence and the ability to uplift diverse student voices
  • Ability to accept feedback and engage in reflective teaching practices

Term of Employment:

  • Fall Semester 2025 (starts mid-late August)
  • Potential for renewal for Spring 2026

Schedule:

  • In-person instruction during first period (8:50 AM–10:05 AM)
  • 2–5 days per week, depending on A/B day schedule

Salary:

  • $7,500 per section per semester
  • Up to $15,000 total for teaching both sections
