Associate Specialist in Chemical Engineering at University of California Santa Barbara

Position Description:

This research-intensive position focuses on:

  • Linking sperm morphology to molecular profiles using advanced single-cell techniques such as TELD and scSTAMP-seq
  • Investigating epigenetic reprogramming during early mammalian embryogenesis using CEL-seq, scDyad&T-seq, and scMAT-seq
  • Preparing technical reports and manuscripts in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI) and project partners
  • Participating in regular research meetings with collaborators and stakeholders

While this is not a conventional teaching job, it aligns with UC’s mission of training and mentoring future researchers, fitting well within broader teaching positions in academia.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualification (at time of application):

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field

Additional Qualifications (at time of appointment):

  • At least five years of experience in bioengineering and biosciences with a focus on:
    • Genomics
    • Epigenomics
    • Single-cell sequencing techniques

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Proven expertise in:
    • CEL-seq
    • scDyad&T-seq
    • scMAT-seq
    • TELD and scSTAMP-seq
    • Stem cell and developmental biology

Salary Range:

$74,900–$87,300 (based on 100% time appointment)
