Essential Qualifications for Professor Positions at IIT
Professor:
- Ph.D. with first-class or equivalent in the relevant branch/discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience, with at least 4 years at the level of Associate Professor in prestigious institutions.
- Proven independent research experience, including Ph.D. student supervision, high-impact publications, patents, and significant research projects.
Associate Professor:
- Ph.D. with first-class or equivalent in the relevant branch/discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of teaching/research/professional experience, with at least 3 years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent in research organizations or industry.
- Demonstrated experience in guiding M.Tech and Ph.D. students, publications in high-impact journals, patents, and relevant professional activities.
Salary Scale
- Professor: Starting Basic Pay: ₹1,59,100/-
- Associate Professor: Starting Basic Pay: ₹1,39,600/-

- Applications are processed in two cycles annually, with deadlines on January 31st and August 31st.
