Organization Profile

The Institute of Home Economics, established in 1961 by a Registered Co-operative Society, began by offering a two-year Diploma in Home Science. With support from DLF, the society acquired property in South Extension on a 99-year lease.

Over the years, the college grew, introducing a one-year Teacher Training Course in Home Science. Eventually, the Co-operative Society was succeeded by the Trust, ‘Home Economics Education Society,’ led by Mrs. Rameshwari Nehru and other notable educationists. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. (Mrs.) S. Malhan, the college gained recognition from the University of Delhi in 1969 and became a constituent college.
